Jaywalker free magazine of the arts was published monthly in Kingston, Ontario, Canada and is still available online at all times right here! We hope to get some version of it going again. For now, it is an archival site only.

Check out our old publisher's new blog, The Metaphor Observatory, with plenty of examples of contemporary metaphor in the media.

Snowball in the Sand

(by J.D. Casnig as Harry Sphincter)

Wrapped around that coldest core

An ancient force we can't ignore

A past repeated lies in store

A snowball in the sand.

Carried by ignoble gust

Destructive blast of human dust

So we're told and so we must

Make snowballs in the sand.

On their souls we will glut

United lands we will cut

Drink the fat and nothing but

Throw snowballs in the sand.

Once again the break of day

Sheds light upon the devil's play

Quick we turn and melt away

A snowball in the sand.
